Family News Tina writes "Over the river and through the swamp.... Gloria and Paul brought Alexa over for her first visit to Estero. The meteorologists predicted a rainy day and true to their word it showered off and on all day! But we hardly ever noticed- the day was happily spent playing and feeding Alexa and seeing all the new things she now can do. However, she made sure that Paul and his parents have to wait a bit longer to see an "Alexa Rollover"!! On Sunday, we witnessed and videotaped the birth of baby seahorses .We caught 5 dwarf seahorses out in Estero Bay a week ago and to date 2 have given birth to 32 babies! In the seahorse world it is the males who get pregnant and give birth. What an interesting concept......

In the afternoon we dressed up Alexa in her sexy bikini Cristina got her but with all the rain she did not take a dip in the cool pool waters. Even though we did not see Alexa rollover before she headed back home with her parents she giggled with glee when her granddaddy played with her . You cannot ask for anything more...."

Land Travel Tina writes "June 3rd Gene and I returned to the Great Smoky Mountains after 32 years. June 1974 we spent a week camping in a vintage Ford van complete with shag carpet. This road trip began in Charlotte, North Carolina after a short 90 minute flight. We rented a car and traveled primarily on the Blue Ridge Parkway and quiet country roads to Chimney Rock, Waynesville, Dillsboro, Gatlinburg, and Bryson City. In the Nanthahala Forest south of Dillsboro we visited several lovely waterfalls and encountered our first zigzag mountain roads. The cool 50's nights and 70's daytime temperatures made all the hiking we did so comfortable. We saw turkeys, groundhogs, chipmunks, one deer, and to our surprise the fuschia colored rhododendren was still bloomimg in several locations. No bears on this trip unlike our honeymoon when we camped. Before we headed back to Charlotte we traveled on the Great Smoky Mountain Train out of Bryson City . We enjoyed on one of the open cars the sights along Fontana Lake and the Nanthahala Gorge.
River Rafting is a must on our next trip!We arrived back in Charlotte one week later and enjoyed the company of my cousins Stella , Mary and her family. It was so wondeeful catching up since our last get together at Gloria and Paul's wedding. We arrived home to overcast skies as the first tropical storm Alberto traveled up through the Gulf of Mexico and landed on northern Florida for a change. We will not wait 32 years to return to the mountains of North Carolina ....."

School News Tina writes "May has been a busy month! Our beautiful ,sweet Alexa's arrival on May 1 has brought so much happiness to the Armands and Csonkas. Paul and Gloria keep us posted with I Chats but needless to say every chance we get we find a way to get to Miami to see our little "munchkin". On May 13 after our snorkeling trip with my students we headed back with Paul and Arturo to Miami to spend Mother's Day. The snorkeling was great on Saturday but spending time with all of the family was simply wonderful! We had a very hectic last 2 weeks but a Memorial Weekend trip for Gene and I was just what we needed to relax and unwind. On the way down Friday to the Keys the rain stopped at Marathon - a good omen for the weekend. Without reservations we were able to get a boat rented for Saturday due to a cancellation so all in all we were very lucky. We stayed at the Hammocks- a lovely
place on the bayfront with pool, hot tub, ship's store and Barnie's - a tiki style restaurant. On Monday we drove back to Goria and Paul's for another visit to check on Alexa's progress. At exactly one month of age she is holding her head up with surprising strength, almost grabs the bottle out of your hand, looks at Paul's camera like she knows she is a movie star, and is smiling for varied silly behavior ( though Grandpa Csonka reminds us it is probably not our amusing antics but gas the source of her little smiles. Only Alexa knows ......."

Land Travel Tina writes "On Friday,March 31 Gene and I took off from school and headed north to New Port Richey to visit my Aunt Alice overnight. The trip on I-75 north was much longer than usual due to all the snowbirds heading out of Florida. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Aunt Alice's favorite restaurant Friday night and Saturday morning after breakfast we had a 2 hour drive over to Daniel's apartment. Dave and Lori had a longer trip from Tallahassee and after their arrival we had subs and all piled in one vehicle and drove over to the Kennedy Space Center. We spent about 3 hours there but plan to return on another trip before our educators pass expires next March 2007.Dave bought freeze dried "space ice cream" for all of us to sample. Good reason to not being an astronaut! We all headed to Universal Islands of Adventure on Sunday and as always I loved the Incredible Hulk Ride. The Poseidon's Fury experience was wild with all the water effects and we ate at a really unique restaurant called Mythos."
